Vision
An Inspiring Vision
Having acquired Cambourne Park Science and Technology Campus in 2021, our vision for the next chapter of the Campus’ development is starting to be implemented. Through a programme of retrofit, sustainable transformation we are committed to further establishing the Campus as a leading location for both science and technology in the region whilst also creating a space which enhances occupiers work/life balance and wellbeing and welcomes in the wider Cambourne community. A place everyone can enjoy.
More Connected
Our reinvigorated Campus will embrace open innovation and establish networks and connections between other Cambridge science and technology sector locations and clusters.
More Science & Technology
Approximately 70,000 sq ft of existing space and 60,000 sq ft of purpose built new space can be enabled as wet/dry/technology labs and write-up spaces.
More Sustainable
Sustainability will be at the heart of all new developments and is a focus for all upgrades to the existing Campus, both from an environmental and well-being perspective.
Laboratory Retrofit Underway
We are underway with converting space at Cambourne Park Science & Technology Campus into high quality, fitted laboratory space, to meet current demand needs of growing life science companies looking for space in the Golden Triangle, UK. In 2023 we will be converting up to 10,109 sq ft of fully fitted laboratory and write up space across four suites. These are available at affordable rates.
Embracing Open Innovation
Cambourne Park Science and Technology Campus is just seven miles from the University of Cambridge West Campus and well connected to the life sciences and technology clusters in the Cambridge area. We want to encourage and facilitate open innovation with others and actively participate in and promote networking. In time, new amenity spaces will host events and bring people on Campus together in a knowledge sharing and social capacity. These events will be coordinated and facilitated by an experienced Park Management Team.
Sustainability at the Heart of the New Campus
We are aiming for the Campus to be carbon neutral. We will start by repurposing existing buildings to improve efficiency and suitability for today’s science and technology sectors as our first step towards this ambition.
New buildings will target BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ ratings. Enhanced digital infrastructure and resilience will ensure buildings are responsive and operate efficiently. We will also champion health and well-being through WELL building standards.
New Amenities & Community
The new Campus will have brand new amenities to enhance the working experience for occupiers. This will include a café, pavilion and hub areas suitable for event hosting. The external environment will also be upgraded with new landscaping and a relocation of parking facilities to create central quad green spaces that are free from traffic.
With new amenity comes a vision for the Campus to become an inspiring location for the wider community and a major boost for Cambourne’s reputation. The local community will benefit from use of the publicly accessible green spaces, new amenities and organised events.
New Owner, New Vision
In December 2021, Cambourne Business Park was acquired by Life Science REIT – the first UK listed REIT focused on the life science sector. Life Science REIT is focused on Life Science clusters in the “Golden Triangle” and has a portfolio of investments in science parks, buildings and spaces including Oxford Technology Park. Life Science REIT has a vision to make Cambourne Park Science and Technology Campus an exemplar development to attract leading life science and technology businesses.
